Starting Homeless
The abandonment of babies has reached a crisis level. Hospitals throughout Kenya are facing the problem daily as mothers walk out of wards, leaving their babies, and do not return. It is also not uncommon for a baby to be abandoned in a plastic bag or left in a roadside ditch. These babies often die from hypothermia, dehydration, or illnesses related to their malnutrition. Even when they are found and rescued, there are not simply enough facilities available to properly care for these abandoned babies.
Finding Hope
From the outside, the situation can seem grim, depressing, and insurmountable. We cannot possibly make a difference in the lives of all of the abandoned children of Kenya, so why do we even try? We continue our efforts because we know that we CAN make a difference in the life of every child who comes through our doors. At Happy Life Children's Home, we offer a safe, caring environment where children are fed, clothed, provided education and medical care, and encouraged to smile, laugh, and have fun. We are a loving community praying often and working hard to find each of "our" children a forever family of their own.
Nairobi, Kenya
"For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
"We are overwhelmed as to what the Lord is doing at our small home on the outskirts of Nairobi. Never did we ever dream that our God would bless us with this opportunity to provide a hope and a home to these precious abandoned babies. Our dependence is on the Lord to be the Architect and the Master Builder. We also depend on each one of you to be willing laborers in service to the Lord."
